Most driveways have no issues with this, however, if your driveway is on a slope, it may become more slippery. The sealer we use is very thick, and it fills a lot of the voids in the asphalt.
We can’t always use our spray wand to apply sealcoat. Sometimes, we have to apply the sealer by hand for areas such as around the brick walls/walkways, the house, or concrete. We mask (cover?) any of these surfaces with a protective barrier to prevent overspray.
We recommend 24 hours before parking regular sized vehicles and 48 hours for heavy vehicles or trailers. We suggest 4 to 12 hours before walking on it, depending on the weather.
The sealcoat dries from top to bottom. When the top layer is dry, the water will have no effect on it. On a nice sunny day, the top layer will dry within 1-3 hours. Areas with shade will take longer to dry.
Depending on traffic and snow plow damage, most residential driveways will last for up to 3-4 years.
Water is used to mix with the sealer, making it easier to spray with a commercial spray system.
